National Desk: Delhi Police did not allow Congress to hold 'Satyagraha' at Rajghat against disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha. Officials gave this information on Sunday. Delhi Police said in a letter that the request was rejected due to law and order and traffic related reasons and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) have been imposed in and around Rajghat.

A senior police official said that no permission has been granted for the satyagraha and adequate security arrangements have been made. Earlier, the Congress had announced a day-long satyagraha in front of Mahatma Gandhi statues in all state and district headquarters on Sunday to protest against the disqualification of former party president Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha.

Lok Sabha member from Kerala's Wayanad seat, Rahul Gandhi was on Friday disqualified from the Lok Sabha in the wake of his being sentenced to two years in jail by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case. In a notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it was said that his disqualification order will be effective from March 23. Let us tell you that a court in Surat had given this decision regarding the comment regarding "Modi surname".
